What Does The Procedure For PRP Therapy Involve?
The skin is cleaned ,anaesthetic cream is applied to reduce discomfort,
a small volume of blood (5-15 ml) will be withdrawn in the same way blood is taken
for blood tests. This is then spun in a centrifuge to seperate the red blood cells from
the platelet-rich plasma (PRP). The platelet-rich plasma is then injected back into
your troublesome areas to help soften, smooth and tighten your skin, give skin a
youthful appearance .
The whole process takes an hour and afterwards patient is advised to avoid physical activity and
prolonged exposure to sunlight for 24hours.
When will I see the results?
Improvement will be visible almost immediately and will improve in the following 3-4 weeks. 2-3
treatments maybe required depending on the condition of the skin and age of the patient. PRP can be
used in combination with other treatments such as Dermaroller, dermal fillers and anti wrinkle
injections and Thread lifts.
There are very few side effects associated with PRP; while there will be some swelling and
bruising immediately after the treatment, these will disappear within a few days.
A total of 3 sessions is recommended 6 weeks apart, and it is recommended to
repeat this treatment twice a year.
